The Blurred Lines of Online Advertising and PR

Today I read an article on prnewsonline.com on how the lines of online advertising and public relations is now beginning to blur as today’s “PR departments practice a 360-degree approach to media, including ad buys, as opposed to strictly generating “earned” media.”

I find it a very cool and creative way for companies to now begin advertising themselves through PR campaigns and feel that it is a new and innovative way of attracting customers. Social Media has definitely changed the advertising landscape and how companies interact with the public.

A good example of a company that uses their social media as a way to advertise and conduct PR is Diamond Supply Co. who uses Instagram (instagram.com/nickydiamonds1#) as their main tool to connect with the public. Through this platform the company is able to provide PR content that consumers what to see, which also give the company a chance to promote its product and sales at the same time.

It is becoming a very interesting and awesome new world for the modern PR industry and I am very excited to be a part of it! If you would like to read the full article here is the link below!
